Is Hydrogen Water Safe?

For most healthy adults, hydrogen water is safe when consumed in moderation (about 1–1.5 liters/day in studies).

⚠️ Risks of hydrogen water:

  • Electrolyzed reduced water (ERW) with very high pH (>9.8) has been linked to rare cases of electrolyte imbalance like hypokalemia (low potassium).

  • Kidney patients or those with reduced kidney function are at higher risk of metabolic alkalosis and should avoid alkaline hydrogen water without medical supervision.

👉 No major side effects have been reported in clinical studies of standard hydrogen-enriched water at normal pH levels.
